Easter 2014

Easter Sunday came and went this year with a little bit of rain and a whole lot of Easter eggs.  On Saturday, Dawn and the kiddles decorated a bunch of hard boiled eggs.  It went really smoothly until Drew decided he wanted to help.  A few broken eggs later they got them done.  We had Madolyn's first soccer game and then went over to our neighbor's house for an Easter egg hunt.  

On Easter morning the kids woke up to some baskets filled by the Easter Bunny with some treats along with some dresses for the girlies and a new shirt for little Drewby.  They looked so good in them.  We had a nice time at church and then we invited everyone over for Easter dinner and another Easter egg hunt in our backyard.  We got more candy and eggs than we knew what to do with.  

Even the Easter Bunny made an appearance.

Not only did the Easter bunny leave some eggs, but a momma Killldeer did as well.  She built a little nest on the ground back in our orchard.  Unfortunately for everyone, Drew found these eggs later on in the week and carried them around on his wiggle car.  They didn't survive, but it was fun to have them back there while it lasted.

Madolyn's 6th Birthday! March 24th, 2014

We can't believe our little girl turned 6!  We all got together to celebrate Madolyn's birthday on the 24th.  Grandma and Grandpa Peterson came over, along with Aunt Cami and Uncle Matt, Aunt Amanda, Grandma Yee, and Aunt Kristin.  Madolyn wanted a Mary Poppin's hat cake of all things and so Mom came up with one and it turned out great! We had pizza and opened a bunch of presents, including a new bike!  We will pass her other one on to Avery, so in a way, Avery got a new bike as well.  Madolyn was spoiled with love and gifts from everyone.  She got a lot of sorely needed new clothes, a few games, a puzzle, a bug catcher container and net, and a Frozen book.  She loved all of them!

She has loved being in Kindergarten this past year.  She loves reading and gets a lot of it in everyday.  She is already reading past a 1st grade level, which means lucky for us, she got Dawn's brains.  She still loves to draw and color and makes it difficult for us because she wants to keep every one that she does.  We may have to build an extra garage just to store her pictures.  She is a really good big sister to Avery and they play really well together for the most part.  They love to play outside and collect bugs and find worms.  Mads also loves to ride her bike.  She has a few little girl friends she likes to play with in the neighborhood and ward, and they love to play dress up or dolls.  She is a good helper for Mom, especially with Drew, and she will do anything to help Dad.  She still is a little Daddy's girl.  

                                         

Happy 100th Day of School! Happy Valentines Day! Happy Saint Patrick's Day! 2014

These little bugs love holidays and count down the days until each one.  The kids were allowed to dress up like they were 100 years old on the 100th day of school.  Madolyn really wanted to color her hair silver and so we found some silver hair spray and pulled her hair up in a bun.  We picked up some dollar store glasses and popped out the lenses and found a floral skirt and a sweater at home and out she came looking like a little old lady.  Of course once Avery saw that Madolyn was dressing up she wanted to as well so here they are in their outfits.  At school Madolyn made a hat and necklace and picture of herself as a 100 year old little lady and she loved it.

On Valentine's Day we surprised them with hearts on their door, Valentine's shirts for the girls, giant Valentine's pencils (which we ended up hiding again because Drew liked chewing on the erasers), window stickers, candy and gum.  Earlier in the week we made Valentine's sugar cookies and Valentines night they made more with our babysitter Brandi:)  

The Saturday before Saint Patrick's Day Aunt Kristin invited us to her house for a treasure hunt as well as leprechaun hat making and shamrock sugar cookie decorating.  The kiddles loved all of it, especially the treasure hunt.  They searched all over the yard for gold coins that the leprechaun had hid and when they had found them they turned them in for prizes- bouncy balls, candy, and rings.  On Saint Patrick's Day we had green German pancakes and Madolyn and Avery made sure that everyone wore green so they wouldn't get pinched!  Yay for holidays!

 Madolyn was super excited to wear green.  She didn't really have any green green shirts, so she wore a minty one and wore green green socks to be safe.  She even made a green piece of "hair" out of paper to clip in and wear all day.

 Other than licking the frosting, Drew actually really liked eating each individual sprinke that we put in front of him for his cookie.  He would pick up an individual sprinkle and yell, "green!", or "orange", or whatever color it was.  He was super excited that there were so many different colors he could eat.   He is such a funny and smart boy.
