This is what Avery did while we worked on the pumpkin
Somehow I started out with my text at the top of this entry and then it went to the bottom and now to the middle, so here's the explanation of these pics. Above are pictures of us and Madolyn decorating Halloween sugar cookies. She helped me with the whole process. During Avery's first nap we made the dough, during her second nap we rolled it out and cut shapes and baked them. Finally in the late afternoon we started decorating and Dad got home just in time to help. That night we had a visit from Uncle Mitch who came to see his favorite nieces, and probably got more attention than he was hoping for. The next set of pics above are the girls in their costumes at Dad's work and the pumpkin carving experience.
Halloween is such fun time for the little ones, and some big ones too:) On the Thursday before Halloween we carved pumpkins, well actually we only carved one, but that usually sounds better. Anyhow, Madolyn still loves Elmo so I found a picture online that I couldn't get to print so I drew a pattern on paper and then traced it onto the pumpkin. Madolyn helped us clean out the pumpkin and then Jordan and I took turns carving. Madolyn was so excited once we put the candle in it and turned out the lights; the following day she kept opening the door just to grab a peek at her Elmo pumpkin.
Madolyn was Monkey and Avery was a duck which seemed so appropriate for her because all she had was a little bit of blond "duck fuzz" on her head. We didn't take them trick or treating around the neighborhood but we did trick or treat at the cubicles and offices at Jordan's work the Friday before Halloween. There were tons of other families of the company employees that came as well. It was nice because Jordan knew most of the people and the kids could be inside out of the cold. Madolyn loved people's response to "trick or treat", candy! She made quite a haul and Avery grabbed a few pieces as well.
On Saturday evening we went to Grandma and Grandpa Peterson's and had soup and then spent a little time at their trunk or treat which ended up being indoors because of the rain. Madolyn only went to a few people before she was done and Avery was ready for bed before it even started so needless to say we left early to put our girls to bed. Halloween lasted more than a day at our house, but I don't think any of us minded:)
