Enjoying the backyard

We were hanging out in our backyard enjoying the sun and the nice evening weather. We laid out a blanket for Avery to roll around and kick on. Madolyn set her glass of water down on the blanket and it spilled onto Avery. The pictures tell the story....

Picture1. Oops, did I do that?

Picture 2. Heck yeah you did that you mean older sister! Now I'm all wet and cold!

Picture 3. I think I'll be ok now Daddy. Does this diaper make me look fat?
Picture 4. Just one tear left, and I'll be ok.

Like Mommy like Madolyn

Madolyn loves playing Mommy. She has her own baby that she likes to take care of just like Mommy takes care of "Baby A" as Madolyn calls Avery. Madolyn likes to take an empty baby food container and a spoon and feed her little baby.

Chalk it up to Madolyn

I came home from work the other day to this wonderful surprise written on the driveway. I guess Madolyn found some chalk eggs that we had hidden away in one of our drawers and she and Dawn went out and played on the driveway with them. Of course Madolyn required that Elmo be drawn, as well as Bert and Ernie. It was a real piece of art.

Avery playing peek-a-boo

Avery loves playing peek-a-boo with a blanket. She smiles and coos and laughs. Check out the video!

Going Green

The weekend before Memorial Day we decided go green. First we pulled out our green thumbs and planted some petunias. Dawn played with the camera while Madolyn and I played in the dirt.

After putting away our green thumbs, we pulled out our broccoli and started making some baby food for Avery. We make our own to save a bit of money. We put it in old baby food containers and then freeze it. It works really well for us. We have done broccoli, spinach, squash, and green beans. The broccoli and spinach both come out really bright green.

Surprise! Beach Pictures from May

Well, looking back on our blog posts, we realized that we never posted about going to the beach when we went to California for our Disneyland trip. The beach was really nice. The temp was about 80 degrees, and the water was pretty brisk, but not too bad. It was just cold enough to keep the locals away. For most of the day we all but had the beach to ourselves. Madolyn loved playing in the waves and in the sand. Avery didn't like it quite as much cause she kept getting sand in her face and in her eyes. I guess that's what happens when all you do is lay on a blanket. We were definitely the whitest people on the beach that day since this was our first swimsuit adventure of the year. We also noticed that all the California girls wear bikini's regardless of age or size. Reminds us of the saying, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Yikes.

Madolyn has to put her sunglasses on by herself and usually pins her hair down with them. She is quite trendy in them.

This is our double dip picture. This is about the extent of Avery getting in the water. It was too cold for her to even like kicking her legs in it.

This is one of our favorite pictures. Kristin timed taking it just right, unbeknownst to us. Madolyn's little wedgie is so funny.

We would wait in the water until the waves would come and I'd throw her in the air to miss them. She loved it!

Madolyn really loved digging in the sand. We thought it was funny how she would practically do the splits reaching for the wet sand instead of moving her bucket closer. She would dig and dig until her bucket was full and then pour it out and start over.

This is one of the funniest pictures of Avery. Both of our girls completely crashed once we got in the car.

I crashed too once we got to the hotel. Had to restore my energy reserves so we could head back to Disneyland that evening.
