Timp Half - July 27th, 2013
Back in the spring my friend, Shyla Larsen, asked if I wanted to do the Timpanogas Half Marathon. I was pretty sure I didn't because I didn't think I could run 13 miles. When she asked I was doing just three on the treadmill. But after a couple of outside runs with her I decided I liked running and signed up with her to do it. We trained in the early mornings before kids had to be at school and husbands had to be at work, and when July 27th came we were ready. Our other friend and neighbor, Kelli Taylor and some girlfriends were doing it as well so we drove up to the race together. Kelli picked us up around 3a.m. and off we went. The race started at 6a.m., but you have to load the buses that take you to the starting line at a certain time and allow time to wait in the porta potty lines a couple of times before the race starts. Shyla and I ran almost the whole race together until the last couple of miles when her leg was giving her problems. She and I both developed injuries a few weeks before the race, hers was her leg and mine was my foot, but we made it through and finished in 1 hour and 55 minutes. My little fam. and Jordan's folks were there to great me when I came through:)
The Fourth of Juy 2013
This fourth of July was spent at our home with Grandpa and Grandma Peterson. We had a bbq in the backyard and waited for it to get dark and then did fireworks. Drew went to bed so he missed out, but the girls enjoyed it. Some of our neighbors were out doing theirs as well so after the big ones were done the kids ran around together and did sparklers.
Father's Day June 16th 2013
Well this is our Father's Day post several months late and I honestly can't remember what we did, but i'm pretty sure it included making breakfast and letting Dad sleep in an extra few minutes. My kiddles have the best dad ever! He loves them and spends his extra time with them and helps with them in every way. We love our Daddy:)
7th anniversary get-a-way to Zion's Canyon-May 2013
Well we were able to get away for a few days for our anniversary this year. Grandma Yee came and watched our two littlest ones while Madolyn headed to Washington with Grandpa and Grandma Peterson for cousin Tanner's baptism.
We drove down to Zion's and did some hiking which was fun. It was nice to not have to worry about schedules for the kiddles which made it more flexible. We would do a hike, eat, drive, hike, pull over and take a nap and do whatever and wear ourselves out each day. One of our hikes included Angel's Landing which I was a little nervous to do because i'm not fond of being too high and walking along ledges with very big drop offs. Well we did it anyway and it was actually better than I thought it would be, so not as scary as I anticipated and it had some lovely views. Here are some pics of our exciting trip.
