Birthday in Sacramento, California

Another surprise that we got while in Sacramento was a birthday party for Madolyn. It was complete with decorations, cake and presents. While we were out my grandparents decorated their living room with balloons and ribbons. We went out for dinner with my uncles, aunts, cousins and grandparents and then came home and had a birthday party for Madolyn. It was so nice of everyone to do that for her, we have such great family. Here are some pics from our stay at my grandparents and the birthday party.

Friends in Sac Town

While we were in Sacramento we spent some time with friends Brittany and Rachel. We had fun visiting the LDS Sacramento Temple and Old Sacramento. Jordan even found some time to chase geese and wild turkeys. It was actually really funny to watch a grown man run through a park with a baby in a stroller who was kicking and giggling attempting to catch the wild birds. Brittany and I were laughing so hard. Brittany filmed it on her camera but for whatever reason I can't get it to post on our blog so this blurry pic will have to do.

Family in Sacramento

Last weekend Jordan, Madolyn and I flew to Sacramento to visit family and friends. For those who didn't know already, I was born in Sacramento and lived there until I was ten. My grandparents and a lot of my other family still live there. This was Jordan's first visit to Sacramento so we had a really nice time visiting family he had never met along with my old neighborhoods and schools.

While in Sacramento Great Aunt Joyce (Who is really like my grandma) came to visit us over at Grandpa and Grandma Yee's house. Madolyn is named after Aunt Joyce whose first name is actually Madolyn. The neat thing is that we had decided on Madolyn for our baby's name awhile before she was born and then she came two weeks early and was born on Aunt Joyce's birthday. So our Madolyn has the same birthday as her namesake. It was really good to see her while we were there. She came to visit us last summer when Madolyn was five months old. So this is the second time the Madolyns have been together:)

We ended up getting to see Auntie Edie and Virginia (they are really my great aunts because they are my Grandma Yee's sisters). They had never met Jordan or Madolyn and they were pleasantly surprised to see us when we showed up. It has probably been over five years since I have seen them and they seemed exactly the same.

Her Birthday Party on her Birthday- March 24th

Here are some pictures of her birthday party at home. Grandma and Grandpa Peterson, Aunt Cami and "Uncle" Layten came to party with us. We barbecued and opened gifts. Grandma and Grandpa Yee and Uncle Mason sent Madolyn some blocks and a Winnie the Pooh Ball which she loved as well.

It's the Birthday Girl! March 24th

I can't believe a whole year has passed. We celebrated Madolyn's first birthday on March 24th, well actually she had two birthday partys before her actual birthday so a total of three celebrations. What a silly bug, you know how little ones are, they have more fun with the wrapping paper, decorations, etc. than the actual gifts. These pictures were taken the morning of her birthday when I could actually get her to keep the headband in her hair. Lately she will pull headbands, bows and anything else out of her hair as soon as I put them there. So needless to say most of the time she doesn't wear anything in her hair or on her head.

Dental Convention!

This last Thursday and Friday I attended the yearly UDA Convention at the Salt Palace. My mom and Jordan each took a day to happily spend with Madolyn so that I was able to go to all the sessions. It was a lot of fun to see classmates that I graduated with from the dental hygiene program. I think we can all agree that although the courses are sooo interesting, the best part of going is to catch up with friends and of course get that CE credit. I wish I had brought my camera, but I suppose an entry will just have to do.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a simple but enjoyable Valentines Day that started out with Madolyn insisting on helping Daddy organize his sock drawer. I don't think that she was super helpful but it was fun to watch her try. It was nice to have it on a Saturday so that Jordan could spend the whole day with us. Uncle Mitchy was home from school for the holiday weekend and was willing to come and babysit Madolyn so that Jordan and I could go out for lunch and run some errands. We thought we would try lunch because last year we went out for dinner and waited a couple of hours to be seated at the restaraunt and didn't end up getting home from dinner until eleven. The day before Valentine's Day Madolyn received some new socks from Grandma Yee that she loved, but not because they kept her feet warm...it was becasue she could hit them against things and hold them in the air and talk to them. Isn't Valentine's Day fun?! It gives us an excuse to come up with surprises for other people including my little family. What a lovely day.
